Acoustic vibes. Soulful earthy folk rhythmic funky honest vulnerable. I want to deliver something that makes you think or feel. I just try to be honest with my music. I like music that comes from the gut. My Parents are from Trinidad; I often feel the rhythm coming through my music.
Can you give a brief history of your music journey so far?
Well currently I am busking about and I’ve been fronting a band in Notts called Bendigo Band for a year and a half. I love it. I get to exercise the performer side of me, dressing up, singing dancing with a bunch of talented musicians. In 2014 I was part of a duo called The Needy with another artist known as Pegefo, playing acoustic original music.
Around 2011 to 2013 I put together a band called Marita and the Peaches. Previous to that, 2010, I did and electronic project with a producer called Kirk Spencer. We did the Shanghi Underground under the name Kirk and Marita, and our music featured as part of the soundtrack for a Nottingham based film The Chase.
Before that, 2006-2008, I worked with Dubstep producer, Geiom. We worked together on three tracks; the second track, Remenissin, was released on vinyl, and was on various compilation albums.
What are you working on at the moment?
I am currently working on 4 tracks about work and love at home on my Tascam 008. I don’t have a big studio, and get my songs down as my brain is always thinking/awake. I like recording, learning about sounds and what I like… I’m addicted to it. I’ve also got some feature projects come up.
What would you like to happen in the future with your music?
I would like to continue doing what I do, and take my music to larger audiences with some releases, and to write for others. It’s something I keep thinking about. Anything is possible – so let’s see.
