Part of a series of posts sharing insights into some of the people who go to the Nottingham Music Makers meetups. Say hello to David Whitehall.
How long have you been a musician?
‘Musician’ ? A term used loosely in my case. I’ve played guitar, on and off, since I was 15 : you’d think I’d be better at it by now !
What instruments do you play?
Guitar, though know where a C is on the piano !
What’s the main reason you go to the Music Makers Meetups?
To meet people who share a love of music, and with the hope maybe of meeting someone I can collaborate with in performing and writing songs.
What’s the best benefit you’ve gained from the meetups so far?
Meeting new people, some of whom have become friends, and playing occasionally at the open – mics.
Is there anything you don’t like – or would change – about the meetups?
No, nothing : Victor’s a good organiser and bringing people together is a good attribute to have !
What are you doing, or what do you want to do with your music?
Being an acoustic guitarist can be quite self-containing : I enjoy it, but playing with someone else would take the pressure off my guitar playing and allow me to focus more on singing and harmonising, which I love. Anyone out there interested ?
Any other thoughts?
Music and breathing ? Both pretty important.
