Interview – Josh Wheatley “I Know You”

Local artist Josh Wheatley released his brand new EP, I Know You via streaming services, Spotify and Soundcloud on 6th April and so far, it has had a positive response. With attention from both local and national media already happening, things are looking good so far. Adam Humphreys spoke to Josh to find out more.

So, what’s been the response to I Know You so far?

Really good at the moment. I was particularly surprised by the reaction of the single.

Has there been any attention so far from the national media?

Yes, we had a couple of plays from John Kennedy on Radio X. It was a really exciting surprise.

And local media?

Some features on Notts TV and plays on BBC Introducing.

What’s the response been so far on Spotify and Sound-Cloud?

I Know You has had 12,000 streams so far over both.

Can it be heard on The Beat on BBC Radio Nottingham?

Yes, we had Calling played by Dean just the other day.

How long did it take to make I Know You?

It was a lengthy process. I’ve had the song a while but it didn’t quite sit right. Then something just clicked.

Any influences behind the single?

I’m a huge fan of Fickle Friends and Anteros. Those kinds of synth-pop bands

Will your track be on your upcoming album if you’re making one?

At the moment there are no plans for an album. Maybe soon.

Any collaboration offers from other artists/producers yet?

A few, on this EP I got to work with a guy called Josh Rumble working on Anteros. He produced Worry and Saviour.

Are you doing a promotional tour of your EP?

Yes. We’re headlining Ojon Tour with New York Artists in May. We’re playing Leeds, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Kent.

Finally, what can we expect from you later this year?

More music and shows. Just constantly releasing what I can.
